TRIBUTE TO MA SERAHALIM

MA Serahalim, (Ansata Halim Shah x Imperial Naserah), was a mare of the Dahmah Shahwaniyah strain through the Sabah branch of the El Dahma family. As a priceless broodmare of Ali Pasha Sherif, El Dahma is considered by many authorities to have been the most valuable foundation mare in all of Egyptian Arabian history. MA Serahalim perpetuated the high esteem of El Dahma by becoming yet another of her female descendants to establish a highly valued line.

Two branches of the El Dahma family exist through the mares Sabah and Farida. The Sabah branch was imported to the United states by Henry Babson in 1932 through the mare *Bint Bint Sabbah. It was through this line that MA Serahalim traced back to El Dahma.

Do we realize what impact our breeding decisions will have ten, fifteen years or more down the road? Mr. Babson's skillful line breeding and inbreeding developed a line of horses with a remarkable degree of prepotency and to him we owe a debt of gratitude! MA Serahalim's grand dam was the black, straight Babson foundation mare Serabah.

MA Serahalim entered the world as a gangly filly. At the time, her true beauty and her "look at me" attitude lay dormant deep within her. Watching MA Serahalim mature, I knew the quest for our "ideal" had begun to take shape. MA Serahalim evolved into a majestic vision of great beauty and symmetrical balance. She later proved her greatest value, which was as a producer of foals with outstanding quality and classic type.

In 2001, MA Serahalim was taken from us by liver cancer. One would never suspect she was ill during her last months of pregnancy as she romped through her pasture, kicking up her heals and squealing in merry delight. She delivered a colt who constantly demanded her attention. Within four weeks of her delivery she stopped eating and drinking. Our amazing Serahalim held on until her foal was born and gave of herself so he could have a good start in life.

We thank the staff of the Alamo Pintado Clinic in Los Olivos, California for the wonderful attention and care they gave our precious Serahalim!

Serabah was the dam of Imperial Naserah who gave us MA Serahalim, who in turn gave us her two daughters, MA Basera and Crown Princess MA. They now carry the genetic strength and structural foundation of this strong female line. Through MA Basera and Crown Princess MA, we anticipate producing future generations that will reflect everything their female ancestors were - and more!
