In my efforts to learn as much about straight Egyptian breeding as possible, I have studied many pedigrees. As a result, I have become familiar with the various families and strains that make up the pedigree. I have discovered that most of the foundation mares we began with at Madera Arabians were of the Dahmah Shahwaniyah strain through the Sabah and Farida branches of the El Dahma family. We later added the Kuhaylah Jellabiyah strain through the Maaroufa family.
